Archbishop A. Sheptytsky and the Ukrainian Jewish Bond

Regular price $10.00

"As early as 1901, Sheptysky was addressing Jewish groups in Hebrew, an activity that prompted some circles to accuse him of 'Judaizing'. Within the Jewish community of Wester Ukraine, the Metropolitan's prestige grew by leaps an bounds. On the occasion of his 70th birthday (in 1935) the Jewish community of Lviv praised him as 'a true example of culture and the highest ethical principles, who has always shown the same attitudes of understanding and justice to the people of Israel as to other nationalities". A highly interesting and informative read on the history of Sheptyskyi's involvement within the Ukrainian Jewish community.
