In the dark season, bright memories make our paths visible. They weave the most joyful moments, the love and care of our dear ones, and the magic of a family holiday, including Christmas. It emerges from our memories with warm embraces, sincere smiles, childhood dreams, the scent of tangerines, spruce, and poppies.
Filled with sacredness and sincere hopes, Christmas symbolizes purity and spirituality, brought by the arrival of Jesus Christ. Many canonical and apocryphal texts about the birth of the Son of God have been preserved. Interpreting them, people, over the course of two millennia, each in their own way, have shown reverence to Jesus through prayer, songs, and ritual actions. Among them, the tradition of setting up a nativity scene - a composition of the Nativity of Christ, has remained.
The ancient tradition of the nativity scene dates back to the times when illiterate parishioners were told the biblical story of the birth of the little Jesus in Bethlehem through sculptural compositions in the church.
Later, as cities grew and the number of townspeople increased, nativity scenes began to be set up in front of cathedrals. Furthermore, costume performances were organized using bright costumes, significant attributes, puppet theater, and narrative songs about the Marvelous Miracle.
We preserve this tradition by telling our children and grandchildren in legends and singing in carols about the power of love and kindness that governs our world.
