Vasyl Ivanovych Lopata (1941-2025) was born in the Chernihiv oblast' of Ukraine. He was an artist and prose writer. Lopata was a member of writer's guilds in Ukraine, and won numerous awards. He was known for designing the first hryvnia of Ukraine, and excelled in the areas of engraving and painting.
