Unframed. We are honored to present a series of original, limited artist-printed and signed graphic works by the outstanding artist Zenovij Ketsalo. Zenovij Ketsalo was born in 1919 in Western Ukraine, and entered art school in Lviv at the age of 15. From 1938-39, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The war interrupted his studies, and he served time in Soviet army camps as punishment for "anti-soviet propaganda". After his return in the 1950s, he became active in the artistic life of Lviv. In time, with the support of his distinguished older colleagues, his works were shown in an increasingly wider area, including Europe and North America. He taught art at the Art Academy in Lviv, and became the head of the Graphics Division and eventually joined the directorate of the Lviv Branch of the Ukrainian Artists Organization. In 1995, he was awarded the title "Honored Folk Artist of Ukraine". The energetic, multi-faceted artist of imposing stature has worked in almost all of the media available. He is considered a master of major landscape works and still-life oil painting, gouache, and tempera, as well as a specialist in pastel portraiture and all facets of graphic art (woodcuts, lino-cuts, etchings, etc.)
