'Hopak' (Medium: Watercolour and Pencil Crayon) Colour laser reproduction. Hopak was an original Ukrainian folk dance that was improvised. The name is derived from “hopaty” which means, “to leap and stamp one’s feet”. The dance itself arose as an all-male Kozak dance and gradually spread throughout Ukraine. It is now considered the “National Dance of Ukraine”. This image collages the breathtaking movement of the energetic closing dance of a performance where men and women try to outdo each other with their spins and leaps. (Poltava/Central Ukraine). Matted laser copy reproduction on 110 cardstock with card backing and sealed in a plastic sleeve. Matte Size: 8x10” with 5x7” opening.
