'Tamara'. (Medium: Graphite and Pencil Crayon) Colour laser reproduction. This illustration represents my daughter’s belief in her Ukrainian heritage and her passion for Ukrainian Dance. I am incredibly taken with the intricacy of the intertwining patterns of the Art Nouveau style. Upon quickly sketching my daughter sitting beside me one night the composition took shape. The Pre-Christian costuming seemed to blend itself into the patterning of the artwork so easily. This piece holds a special place in my heart and is a symbol of my art style. I experimented with the image, taking the simple line drawing of the original colour version and keeping only the black and red colouring. The combination created a drama symbolic of Ukrainian culture, particularly that of the traditional red poppy, the national flower of Ukraine. Matted laser copy reproduction on 110 cardstock with card backing and sealed in a plastic sleeve. Matte Size: 11x14” with 8x10” opening.
